We like to Barter!
We have done a number of successful domain barters. Ideally, its a win-win situation; both parties are happy, and feel that they have come out ahead. And they have!
If two domainers have domains that the other wants, you have the potantial for a barter. When I am the one offering the barter, and hoping to convince the other party, I feel I should add extra domains - to sweeten the deal.
What I like best is when the domain I receive adds to some existing interest or focus area. Then I feel my portfolio has grown stronger. Another possibility is that one party has a somewhat premium domain, and is given a number of other domains in trade. Another opportunity is when I have the singular, and someone else has the plural, of a given domain - you would like to see them together, and its worth trying for a barter to achieve that.
Value has to be assessed realistically. I have seen domain sellers on a forum offer a domain for $200 or even $100, and yet in barter discussion they ask for the moon. They do not understand how to do an effective barter; another opportunity lost.
Barter can include services as well, if one or both parties have skills that are needed by the other: Web design & programming, art work, seo services, high PR Links, and so on.
Do you have some good domains? Looking for some? Send me a barter offer!
