They did not rely on self-reporting; they actually tested everyone. So it is a well-done study with reliable results. Therefore, being unfit is a strong risk factor for illness and early death. The US spends many billions in caring for those who are ill; what if everyone exercised? The potential benefits are unlimited.
These results apply both to qualtity of life, but also achieving longer life. And the most fit individuals had the greatest advantage - meaning, we do not yet know the possible limits of how much exercise can help.
Comparing the least fit with the most fit found at least 500% difference. There is no pill, no therapy, and no doctor that can achive that using traditional medicine. You health happens through your own actions.
Doctors could do more for patients by prescribing exercise than any other single they they could do!
