Market Share Will Change Less Often in Mobile
This is particularly true in mobile phones (and tablets). Its just easier to stay with Samsung and Apple; why switch to others, why take that risk? Why switch, unless there is a STRONG incentive?
In a nutshell, every company now has excellent phones, and that is why consumers have little reason to change brands. This drives everything.
A slightly better camera or faster CPU is not going to help, everyone has it already or soon will. So to give your phones some traction in the market you need to have a broad platform and to have a core expertise that no one else can match. Right now the best candidate for that appears to be music streaming. There is an opening for one company to become the leader in music. This marketing opportunity includes:
- Cheaper Plans - the best play is to just give away music. Not an entry level streaming but rather give away the best level of service, equivalent to Spotify's best plan. Make up the cost in other ways.
- Help Music Artists more - the artists are not paid well. This is both songwriters, and performers. Why not help them? Form an Indie label that returns 80% or 90% of the income back to the artists.
- Live Music Hub - no one has yet given live music its due. There ought to be one hub that had every live music concert at any time. This has considerable potential to be monetized.
- Social - bring people together with more more tools to share their playlists, artist info, fan pictures, and so on.
Our website is MusicStreaming.com. We are working on a relaunch. We have been talking to many people in the industry. The name "MusicStreaming.com" is the best possible one there is, and ideal for a central website that can do all of the above. The opportunity awaits!
